Pool betting works differently to a standard fixed-odds operators, with stakes gathered into a shared pot rather than matched against set prices.

Tote is the name most UK bettors associate with this format, built around products like the Placepot and Scoop6 that don't exist anywhere else in the market.

Alongside this, their sportsbook now covers a huge number of sports, giving newer customers to this bookmaker a familiar starting point if pools feel unfamiliar at first.

To add to the attraction, Tote offer live streaming for UK and Irish meetings.

Let's see how Tote stacks up against the competition.

Tote Pros & Cons

Pros

  • ✔️ Tote Pool Betting System
  • ✔️ Tote Guarantee Feature
  • ✔️ Frequent Price Boosts
  • ✔️ Weekly Stayers Club Rewards
  • ✔️ Live Racing Streaming
  • ✔️ Highly-Rated Mobile App

Cons

  • ❌ No Fixed-Odds on Race Day
  • ❌ Limited Payment Methods
  • ❌ No VIP Program

Is the Tote Bonus Worth It?

This is a low-entry offer compared to other free bets promotions in the UK market, it should suit new customers wanting to try both sides of the platform.

A £5 stake unlocking £20 in combined rewards regardless of outcome is a fair return, while splitting it between racing and sports gives newcomers a genuine look at both.

Key Benefits:

✔️ Paid Win Or Lose - The reward is credited whether the qualifying bet is successful or not

✔️ Low Qualifying Stake - Only £5 is needed to trigger the full reward

✔️ Split Reward Structure - Free bets apply to both racing pools and the sportsbook

Who is This Bonus Best For?

✔️ This bonus suits newcomers who want to try racing pools and sports betting

Regular Rewards

Existing Tote customers benefit from a steady stream of event and market-specific promotions across both racing and sports that most other betting sites can't match.

  • Tote Guarantee - Pays out at the Starting Price on Win and each-way racing bets whenever it beats the standard Tote dividend
  • Stayers Club - A weekly loyalty scheme rewarding regular pool bettors with Tote Credit for placing qualifying bets
  • Acca Rewards - A weekly £5 free acca credited for staking £25 or more on three-leg-plus sportsbook accas
  • Placepot Cashback - A percentage of losses returned as Tote Credit on selected Placepot promotions

Unfortunately, Tote does not currently offer a VIP program.

Tote Payment & Withdrawal Options

Tote keeps its banking options pretty simple.

Accepted methods include debit cards (Visa and Mastercard) and Apple Pay, with only one payment method active on an account at any time and no e-wallets or PayPal currently supported.

The minimum deposit is £5, and the minimum withdrawal is £10 - with a maximum of £20,000 per transaction.

Withdrawals are sent on the same working day they're requested, with card clearance typically taking three to five working days.

Know Your Customer (KYC) Process

New customers must verify their identity before they can deposit or withdraw funds, in line with UK Gambling Commission requirements.

This involves confirming full name, date of birth and address, alongside documents such as a passport or driving licence and proof of address.

When I reviewed the process, verification was completed very smoothly within a couple of hours.

Although, some other customers have mentioned that this can vary based on the documents provided.

Tote Site Features

Tote's strength lies in its pool betting heritage, layered with a broad, well-covered sportsbook.

Tote Multiples

Tote lets combine multiple horses from one meeting into a single acca.

This can be up to 12-fold, with named bets like Trixie, Yankee and Lucky 15. The Tote Guarantee applies per leg, capped at £200.

Placepot and Scoop6

Punters can pick placed horses across a meeting or six winners across marquee Saturday races.

Scoop6's rollover jackpot is known to build well beyond typical bookmaker payouts.

World Pool

A collaboration of 25+ Tote operators worldwide, pooling stakes into much larger pots that have generated over £65m for British and Irish racecourses since 2019.

Event-Specific Price Boosts

Rather than broad, generic promotions, Tote runs frequent boosts tied to specific matches and meetings - from weekly Acca Rewards to club-specific offers like the Wigan Warriors Try Scorer money back.

Ten to Follow

A season-long fantasy competition where customers build a stable of horses and earn points based on real-world performances.

Football Bet Builder

Tote customers can combine match result, goals and cards markets into a single bet on selected football fixtures.

Tote Mobile App

Tote offers a mobile app on both iOS and Android devices.

  • App Store: 4.6* (6,300+ reviews)
  • Google Play Store: 4.6* (3,050+ reviews)

Player feedback highlights a clean, easy-to-navigate app that carries full functionality across racing, sports and the Stayers Club.

However, there was also a small number of complaints relating to app stability during busy periods.

Customer Support

Tote offers live chat, email and phone support for their customers.

Their live chat is available 24/7 and phone support running from 8am to midnight, seven days a week.

Based on my testing, live chat was easy to find and didn't require an account to access.

I started with an AI chat bot before being connected easily to a human agent within two minutes.

Responsible Gambling

Tote provides a standard suite of safer gambling tools, accessible through the account menu.

These include deposit limits ranging from £25 to £1,000 across periods from 24 hours to three months, net loss limits, reality checks, temporary suspension from 24 hours up to six weeks and self-exclusion from six months up to five years.

The operator is also integrated with the UK's national self-exclusion scheme.

Things to Note

A few points worth weighing up before signing up to Tote.

No Fixed-Odds On Race Day

Fixed-odds racing is only available on ante-post bets.

Once betting opens on race day, all racing bets run through the pool system.

Limited Payment Methods

Only debit cards and Apple Pay are supported as payment methods with Tote.

No VIP Program

No dedicated VIP tier with this operator beyond the weekly Stayers Club.

Is Tote the Right Choice for Me?

Tote brings something genuinely unique to the UK betting market, built around a pool betting heritage that no rival can really replicate.

The welcome offer is straightforward, with £20 in free bets unlocked from a modest £5 stake and split fairly between racing and sports markets.

Where the operator really stands out is in products like the Placepot and Scoop6, backed by the Tote Guarantee and free live streaming across UK and Irish racing.

Meanwhile, the World Pool and a sportsbook covering a massive number of sports give it a broader footprint than its racing-first reputation might suggest.

On the downside, payment options are limited to cards and Apple Pay and fixed-odds racing is only available ante-post rather than on race day itself.

Overall, for anyone with an interest in horse racing or pool betting specifically, I would recommend Tote as a genuinely distinctive option.

I've tried a few bookies and honestly tote is pretty alright. It's easy to place accas and the bet builder is handy for custom bets. Haven't cashed out yet so can't comment, but overall not a bad site.

I had an issue with my withdrawal at first (bank detail error on my side), and their support chat actually helped me fix it in a few minutes. Money came through the next day. Quite impressed by the customer service compared to some other bookies I've used.

I've been betting with Tote for a few months now, mostly on horse racing and a bit of football. Honestly, I'm loving it so far. The best part for me is the horse racing side – the placepot and other pool bets are actually really fun, and Ive even hit a decent win on the Scoop6. I watch a lot of races and their live streaming is free for every UK and Irish race, which is great. I signed up during Cheltenham and got the free bet welcome offer without any hassle. The site (and app on my phone) work

I tried out tote because a friend recommended their pools, and it's been a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, the website interface is clean and placing bets (both on the app and desktop) was straightforward. I mainly bet on football accas and the odd horse race. For football, their odds were fine, about on par with my usual bookie, but nothing spectacular. The bet builder is actually pretty good with lots of markets – built a few fun bets on it. However, I do miss some offers like early payo

For betting on horses, it's different since you're in the pool with others. Sometimes the payouts on tote can be better than a regular bookie. I once got a bigger return on a pool bet here than I would have with fixed odds elsewhere. Pretty satisfied overall.

Used Tote throughout Cheltenham and they had a good welcome bonus that was easy to use! Worth signing up for the bonus alone.

For horse racing this is a must addition to your betting accounts. Pools for big meetings mean outsiders can be backed a much better odds than usual bookmakers prices, the reverse often applies to fancied horses. It's a shame Tote Fantasy is no longer available, was a great game for small money.
